Frequently Asked Questions

Is Umngot Ghee 100% pure?

Umngot Ghee is made from Gir cow milk and contains no added vegetable oils, palm oil, artificial colours or artificial flavours.
We believe purity should be demonstrated through sourcing, process transparency and appropriate testing—not simply through marketing language.

Is Umngot Ghee made from Gir cow milk?

Our Ghee is sourced from milk obtained from Gir cows through our Trusted sourcing partner.

What does “A2” mean and does it make a ghee healthier?

A2 refers to a type of beta-casein protein found in milk.
The A1/A2 distinction relates to the milk protein profile; it should not automatically be interpreted as a guarantee of superior health benefits. Once milk is processed into ghee, most of the non-fat components of milk are removed. Therefore, we don't use the term “A2” as a shortcut for making broad health or disease-related claims.
For Umngot, our focus is straightforward: quality sourcing, food safety, purity and transparency rather than exaggerated health claims.

Is Umngot Ghee independently tested?

Yes. We conduct laboratory testing of our ghee to evaluate relevant quality, safety and composition parameters. Depending on the testing panel, this can include parameters relating to fat composition, adulteration, physicochemical characteristics, microbiological safety and contaminants.

Can I see Umngot’s laboratory report?

Yes. We believe transparency is an important part of selling a premium food product. Where a laboratory report is available for the relevant batch, customers can view the applicable test documentation on the website.
Our intention is not to overwhelm customers with technical numbers, but to give them access to the information behind our quality standards.

How do you ensure that the ghee is not adulterated?

We don't expect customers to identify purity merely by looking at or tasting the ghee. Our approach combines controlled sourcing, supplier documentation, batch traceability and laboratory testing of relevant parameters.
No single test or visual characteristic should be presented as a universal proof of purity. We therefore rely on a combination of documented sourcing and appropriate testing.

Do you add anything to Umngot Ghee?

No. Our ghee is not formulated with added vegetable oils, artificial colours or artificial flavours. The ingredient declaration on the product packaging is the definitive reference for the composition of the particular product.

Do you manufacture the ghee yourself?

Umngot works with selected sourcing and manufacturing partners rather than operating its own dairy facility.
Our responsibility does not end with sourcing the product. We focus on supplier selection, product specifications, traceability, packaging and quality verification Through Lab. Tests before the product reaches you.

Do you use the traditional Bilona method?

Yes. Our ghee is prepared using the traditional Bilona Method. First the milk is turned into Curd which then churned with the traditional Bilona method which gives the butter which then cooked on slow flame to get the ghee.

Why does Umngot Ghee sometimes become grainy?

A natural grainy or granular texture can occur in ghee as it cools and the milk fat crystallises. The texture can vary depending on factors such as the composition of the milk fat, processing conditions and storage temperature.
A change in texture by itself does not mean that the ghee has spoiled or become adulterated.

Why does the colour of ghee vary?

Natural ghee does not necessarily have exactly the same colour in every batch. Colour can vary with factors such as the milk source, feed, season and processing conditions. For this reason, we should not use colour alone as a measure of purity or quality.

Why does my ghee sometimes become liquid?

Ghee naturally changes between solid, semi-solid and liquid states depending on temperature. It may become softer or completely liquid in warm conditions and solidify again as the temperature falls.
This is a normal physical change and does not, by itself, indicate a change in the quality of the ghee.

Why are there two different layers in my ghee?

Occasional differences in texture or appearance within a jar can occur because of natural fat crystallisation and temperature variations during cooling, storage and transportation. If you notice a separation, simply stir the ghee gently and allow it to settle at room temperature. If the product has an unusual odour, visible contamination or other signs of spoilage, customers should contact Umngot rather than relying on an FAQ to diagnose it.

Does melting and re-solidifying damage the ghee?

Melting and re-solidifying of ghee due to environmental conditions is normal But we advise our customers against melting the ghee using external source of heat and resolidifying it again and again

Is Umngot Ghee suitable for children?

Ghee can be included as part of a balanced diet for children who are already consuming ageappropriate complementary and regular foods.
However, ghee is a fat-rich food and should be consumed as part of an overall balanced diet rather than treated as a standalone nutritional solution.
We do not position Umngot Ghee as a medicine or as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet.

Does Umngot Ghee provide nutritional benefits and also helps brain development and bone development?

Ghee is primarily a source of dietary fat and energy. It can form part of a varied and balanced diet. We deliberately avoid promising specific outcomes such as improved brain development, stronger bones, immunity or treatment of health conditions unless such a claim is supported by the applicable scientific and regulatory requirements.

Can adults consume Umngot Ghee every day?

Ghee can be included in a balanced diet, with the quantity depending on an individual's overall dietary needs and fat intake.
There is no single quantity that is appropriate for everyone.
Rather than encouraging excessive consumption, Umngot recommends using ghee as one important component of a varied diet.

Does ghee contain lactose?

Ghee is primarily milk fat and contains very little of the non-fat components of milk. However, it should not automatically be treated as suitable for everyone with a milk allergy or dairy sensitivity. If you have a diagnosed milk allergy or a specific medical condition, consult your healthcare professional before consuming dairy-derived products.

Does Umngot Ghee need refrigeration?

No. Ghee generally does not require refrigeration.
Store it in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive heat.
Always keep the container properly closed and use a clean, dry spoon.

What is the shelf life of Umngot Ghee?

Please refer to the “Best Before” date printed on the individual jar.
Shelf life is determined for the product under the specified storage conditions, so the packaging should always be treated as the final reference.

Why is Umngot Ghee is expensive than other ghee brands?

Umngot is not positioned as a commodity ghee brand.
Our pricing reflects the sourcing standards, product specifications, quality verification, packaging and customer experience we aim to maintain.
We also use glass packaging for our ghee and invest in batch-level quality and traceability practices.
We don't expect you to buy Umngot simply because it is more expensive. We want you to understand what you are paying for and decide whether that value matters to you.

Why should I choose Umngot over another premium ghee?

There are several good food brands in the market, and customers should compare them carefully. Our approach is to focus on a few things we believe matter: transparent sourcing, product traceability, quality testing, honest communication and carefully considered packaging. We would rather earn your trust through what we can document than through exaggerated promises.

What does Umngot mean by “purity”?

For us, purity isn't just a colour, aroma or texture.
It means making sure what the product is made from, where it comes from, how it is handled, and whether appropriate quality and safety checks have been carried out.
Natural foods can vary from batch to batch. We therefore focus on documented sourcing, traceability and testing rather than presenting appearance alone as proof of purity.

What will Umngot never claim?

We won't tell you that ghee can cure diseases, replace a balanced diet or guarantee a particular health outcome.
We believe food should be respected as food.
Our promise is simpler: source responsibly, maintain quality, test appropriately and tell you honestly what is in the jar.
